250g dates, chopped
60g butter
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup self raising wholemeal flour
1/2 x 425g can apple pie filling
1/2 cup water
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white flour
1 Tbs apricot jam
Put dates in mixing bowl. Combine water & butter in pan & heat until butter melts, bring to boil, remove, add soda & milk. Add to dates with sugar & sifted flours. Mix well. Grease 5 cup steamer, place jam & apple on base, top with date mixture. Cover with foil & lid. Put 2 inches water in slow cooker & put in pudding, cook 6 hours or steam 1-1/2 hours.
